Dr.Tim Saunders and Charles "Chuck" Hoch, David Tate and President Ronnie Pruett

"IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE???"   The medical representation at the head table for our April 6th meeting surpassed even the usual attorney head table count!  The very impressive men on the dais are:  Dr.Tim Saunders and Charles "Chuck" Hoch (both of Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Assoc.,) David Tate (who offered an inspiring and most appropriate invocation) and our esteemed President Ronnie Pruett.

Byron Bullard, Dr. Barry Miller and Dr. Louis Zbinden

Part Two of our "IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE???" head table: Byron Bullard (who introduced our speaker and is aka " the nicest man alive",) Dr. Barry Miller (politician/dentist/Rotarian par excellence,) and Dr. Louis Zbinden (Dilworth Surgical Group.)

It is important to note that no adjectives were used in describing now-practicing doctors or those currently associated with a practicing group.  Never let it be said that one medical group received a preferred "reference" over another in our Rotary archives!

President Ronnie and Dr. Steven Hardy

President Ronnie wouldn't let our speaker, Dr. Steven Hardy (Medical Director/United Sleep Medicine) "escape" without the infamous "Rotary Pen & Pencil Set" presented with a clever "Pruett-ism."  Dr. Hardy held our 250-member audience enrapt during his presentation on the nuances of sleep disorders, and specifically, the symptoms and treatment of sleep apnea.  Steve's comment, "I'm up here at the podium looking around the room and I see a few candidates for our clinic" drew "hardy" laughs.

Edgar Love and Brian Schick

Our dignified legal eagle Edgar Love (Kennedy, Covington, Lobdell & Hickman) and Brian ("sharp as a razor") Schick (Anchor Financial's best!) enjoy a spirited repartee ...

Judy Diamond and Leigh Derby

New Rotarian Judy Diamond (Ex. Dir/YWCA) makes it a point to sit with different Rotarians each week --- a great way to get to know our membership.   With her great smile, Judy is always a welcome lunch partner.   To her left, are the Leigh Derby (St. Mark's Inc.) and this week's "mystery Charlotte Rotary member."  (We're starting something new ... to help us continue to get to know each other, we'll have an unidentified member each week;  the first Rotarian to call with the correct i.d. wins a reward.  E-mail: marilynnb@hornets.com and leave your best guess!  We'll try this out to see how it works.)

Brenda Lea and Alan Barnhardt

Popular Rotarian Brenda Lea (CPCC  Foundation) and newly-shorn Alan Barnhardt enjoy a conversation at our meeting at the Four Points Hotel in uptown Charlotte.  When asked about his decision to trim his familiar beard and mustache, our favorite Rotary redhead quipped, "Well, I just decided it was time and to tell you the truth, the most common remark I've heard is, 'You look so much younger and leaner.'  What did I look like before?"  You looked great, Alan!

Bob Peterson, Bill Loftin, Jr. and Roy Dellinger

Bill Loftin, Jr. (Loftin & Company) spots the cameraman but his lunch partners Bob Peterson (far left) and Roy Dellinger (Dellinger & Deese, L..L.P.) remain immersed in the conversation across the table.  Poor us!  We'll never know who was so intriguing.

Mark Leggett and Jim Haney

NCNB ---Oops! NationsBank --- Oops! Bank of America's best man and fellow Rotarian Mark Leggett and our very own, much loved Jim Haney (Concrete Supply Co.) are "resting up" in anticipation of our speaker's presentation on sleep disorders.

Harold Hoak, Roger Sarow and Dr. Steve Hardy

That wonderful Harold Hoak (Charlotte Rotary's President 1989-1990) with WFAE's top banana Roger Sarow and our terrific speaker -"Humpy Wheeler's son-in-law" - Dr. Steve Hardy ... three very classy men.

Dr. Hardy and Harold Hoak

It seems Dr. Hardy and Harold Hoak have more to talk about --- race tickets or banking counsel or both?

Byron Bullard, Harold Hoak and President Ronnie

Byron Bullard, Harold Hoak and President Ronnie make an daunting triumvirate.

Dr. Barry Miller and Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov

Dr. Barry Miller and President Ronnie's special guest Dr. Eugene Kozhevnikov who puts our weekly Charlotte Rotary meeting notes, photos and captions on-line every week.
