LendingTree.com
Program Director Jeannie Falknor introduces Lori Collins, Senior Vice President, LendingTree.com The day of the handshake is out it is the click of the mouse that seals the deal on lending these days. Lori Collins, Senior Vice President of LendingTree.com, an online loan company, presented an insightful overview of this companys growth over the past three years. Heres the start-up story. Doug Lebda, 26 year-old employee with PricewaterhouseCoopers, found himself unable to quality for a loan. After a brief educational stint at Wharton Business School, Lebda started LendingTree.com around his dining room table in Charlotte and took it public in February, 2000. The timing was great, Wall Street liked the idea and veteran Tom Reddin was hired to build the LendingTree brand and pull together a strong management team. Today, the major milestones include:
Factors that contributed to LendingTrees success include timing; staying focused on client satisfaction and growth not the stock price; strong, seasoned, and diverse management team; metric driven discipline of managing by numbers. President David opened the floor with questions, with which Lori promptly responded and expanded our knowledge of this innovative company. Here are some interesting facts: fees are paid by lender; transmit rate of $10.00 for every lead; close loan fee for home mortgage loan, $450 average; medium loan size for a mortgage loan is $200,000; turn around time for four offers is 24 hours. Head Table: Keith Nowokunski, Bill Blackwell, David Hodgkins, Lou Solomon, Jeannie Falknor. Visiting Rotarians & Guests-Don Carmichael; Invocation-David Anderson; Health & Happiness-Chase Saunders; Song-Billy Scott. * * * POLIO ERADICATION The Rotary Club of Charlotte kicked off the Polio Eradication campaign with an informative video and remarks by Area Coordinator David Hodgkins. President David extended a challenge to Club members to pledge $60 a year for three years. Based on responses thus far, our Club will exceed that goal, and that will be terrific! If you did not pick up a pledge card, plenty are available through our Club Coordinator, Lou Solomon. Completed cards will be collected at the next several meetings, or you may mail your card to Sandy, 801 Baxter Street, Suite 405, Charlotte (28202). The card asks for your Rotary ID, Club, and District. That information will be added once received in the Rotary office. Questions about the card or program may be directed to Lou at 704-374-0423. * * * |
