Community Service Avenue
2007-2008 Funding: $2,000
CART: support District 7680 campaign to raise Coins for Alzheimers Research Trust.
2007-2008 Funding: 0 Chair: Chris Kemper
Crisis Assistance Ministry: warm clothing and blankets
provided for clients served by Crisis Assistance
Ministry.
2007-2008 Funding: $18,500
Sugar Creek Greenway: funding for a clock tower to be
located on the Greenway at the corner of Kings and
Providence Road, hopefully within the next year.
2007-2008 Funding: 0 Chair: John Stedman
Salvation Army Bell Ringing: over a 15 day period, 70
Rotarians and family members rang the bell at the
square.
2007-2008 Funding: 0 Chair: Chris Kemper
Habitat for Humanity: 48 Rotarians are on deck to work
at the Habitat project scheduled to kick off in March.
Vocational Service and Youth Service
2007-2008 Funding: $1,000
Powell Majors Scholarship Fund: donation made in memory
of Powell to the Powell Majors Scholarship Fund at CPCC.
2007-2008 Funding: $240 Chair: Phil Van Hoy
Excellence in Leadership Award: Allen Tate, Jr. received
the 2008 Leadership Award.
2007-2008 Funding: $5,000 Chair: Alan Adler
Rotary Scholarship Golf Classic: the Club's 5th annual
tournament brought in net proceeds of approximately
$63,000, which will be used to provide scholarships for
children of Police, Medic, Sheriff, and Fire employees.
2007-2008 Funding: $1,500 Chair: Lynn Johnson
Classroom Central: funding and volunteers provided on a
monthly basis to assist teachers shopping at Classroom
Central.
2007-2008 Funding: $1,500 Chair: Bob Web
JA Exchange City: volunteers and funding provide support
to initiatives of Junior Achievement's Exchange City
2007-2008 Funding: $7,000 Chair: John Bradberry
Rotary Scholarship Fund: provide scholarships to CPCC
students wishing to transfer to UNC-Charlotte.
2007-2008 Funding: $200 Chair: John Snyder
International Studies School at Garinger: support
student participating in an exchange program to the
Middle East.
2007-2008 Funding: $500 Chair: Don Millen
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools Foundation: support
Latino Initiative Project to send 8 participants to
Mexico for 10 days in June with the Center for
International Understanding.
International Service and The Rotary Foundation
2007-2008 Funding: $500 Chair: Don Millen
Kilifi Kids: donation to help improve the education of
children in Kilifi, a coastal town in Kenya.
2007-2008 Funding: $1,000
District Showcase Project: support work done in Malawi
by members of the Shelby Breakfast Rotary Club.
2007-2008 Funding: $145 Chair: Tom Norwood
Ambassadorial Scholar Orientation: registration fee for
the Ambassadorial Scholar to attend orientation in High
Point.
2007-2008 Funding: $2,000 Chair: Ed Wadsworth
Peru Container Project: project to collect and ship
70,000 pounds of goods in an 80 foot container trailer
to Alto Cayma, Peru.
2007-2008 Funding: $10,000 Chair: Frank Martin
Peru Water Project: extensive project to improve water
capacity in Alto Cayma, Peru.

Youth Exchange Program: sponsor exchange student Isa

Habitat for Humanity:
Registration for this year's Habitat project is
available
here.
Eight to 10 volunteers are needed each day and there is
also a need for in-kind donations. Contact Chris Kemper
with questions.

Rotary District 7680
Annual Conference: Rotarians and family
members are invited to the Annual Conference held at the
Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes, oceanfront Myrtle
Beach. April 4-6. Registration forms available at the
Rotary office or on the District's website:
rotarydistrict7680.org. Friday evening's
entertainment will be a "Rotary Idol" talent show and
all clubs in the District are asked to provide a
contestant. If you can represent the club - and
there's lots of talent in this club - call the Rotary
office ASAP. |
